Mikeys Proverb – Slope Soaring with the SMSA
A day of slope soaring with the SMSA club at the local slope. Lots of regulars out and a few onlookers watching the swiss fish perform its usual antics.
A number of perfect landings today, lots of improvements in general standard of flying, pity summer is nearly over.

Landing Practice at Burton Dassett
The conditions were classic dassett, gusty, lots of wind, cold sinky and no lift. Absolute rubbish for any hooning of any type.
Not to be out done by the conditions, Cliffy and I decided to try some landing practice. The brief was gain enough height and then land. To be kept for posterity on video of course. Just one chance. No reshoots.

Epic Day on Edge hill
Wind was 20-25mph, it was a little round to the left early on, but straightened up later on. Five or so out today, not a crowd, but good company. Flew the Acrostar, the Freddy and the Gulp. All models were full load of ballast. First time the Freddy was out with a full load of ballast. It was fast, really fast. Acrostar was as superb as usual. The gulp was used for some aero practise, the aim here was to fly inverted for over 50% of the flight. It was more like 65% (inverted).
A local flew a very nice Duo Discus X.
A sword belonging to the Chairman of the SMSA, ended up in a tree whilst attempting to land. Oopps.

Edge tommorrow?
Big wind on Edge predicted tommorrow. Usually gets some interest. Today I sorted out the ballast for the nyx and the Fredy (they take the same). The Fredy takes max sixslugs, the nyx, the full 10.
For a predicted 20 mph, I’ll take the acrostar, Fredy, the nyx, and the vortex.
Ive been looking to do a vid of the aerobatic acrostar, but a big wind on edge has been absent for a long time
